Students

JCSD is a residential school for Deaf students.

We cater to the spiritual, academic and social needs of our students who range from two to twenty years old.

Student Life

Education

Each class is comprised of no more than six students, making it ideal for individualized attention. The National Curriculum is used, making adjustments where necessary. Our Library, STEM, and Computer Labs are well-equipped. Our teachers (including Deaf teachers) are college graduates holding bachelor's degrees.

Clubs & Fun

Our students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities. These clubs help our students to be more expressive and showcase their hidden talents. Our clubs include: Dance, Drama, Choir, Dart, and Craft.

Residential Life

JCSD is a residential school. Most students live on campus four nights and five days a week, returning to their families on the weekends, for holidays, and during the summer. Residential life is enriched with activities and is a great source of socializing and building communication skills.

Spirituality

Spirituality plays an integral role in the life of the students and they are exposed to the WORD from the kindergarten stage in the classroom and also in their dorm life.

JCSD is a home away from home.

Being a residential school, the students are away from their home so their comfort is of utmost importance. Students have loving dorm mothers to take care of them as well as teach them how to take care of themselves.

Students are paired in a buddy system. Older students are assigned to a younger student whom they help to take care of and look out for especially in an emergency.

We provide a sitting room where students can congregate to watch the local television stations or movies, and socialize or do homework. Children are provided with three meals per day.

Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf is a family-like setting that nurtures the wholistic development of our students.
